Entry types for references
This following list shows the different entry types that you can use in the bibliography of your Living Reviews article. Some of the fields describing a reference are required, others are optional. For details see the individual entry types.

- article
- BibTex example
- Article published in a newspaper, journal, magazine, or e-journal.

- online

- Resources available online: includes entire websites, animations, or software.
For articles published in an e-journal use entry type “article”.
For articles published only on a preprint server use entry type “preprint”. -

- author, year, note, doi
- preprint

- Article only available on a preprint server.

- unpublished
- BibTex example
- Print articles not formally published. Includes articles in preparation, submitted or accepted for publication.

- proceedings

- Conference proceedings (citing the full document).

- inproceedings

- Paper published in conference proceedings.

- book

- Book, including a collection of articles published by an editor (citing the full book).

- inbook

- Specific chapter of a book, where the whole book was written by the same author(s). If the book contains a collection of articles by various authors, rather use entry type “incollection”.

- incollection
- BibTex example
- Usually a specific chapter of a book which is a collection of articles by various authors. If you want to cite the whole book, use entry type “book”. If the whole book was written by the same auhtor(s), use entry type “inbook”.

- newspaper article

- Catchall category to use for, e.g. private communication, but also CD-ROMs, etc.
If an online version is available use entry type “online”. -
